Miners in an open tram at the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company, one of the largest and most profitable copper mines in American in the late 19th and early 20th century, employing 5000 people. The mining superintendents were traditionally Cornishmen; the workers were Finns, Poles, Italians, Irish, and other immigrant nationalities. 1906.
